Midas Touch

Midas Touch is a project by street artist Melo Vandal, which started in Barcelona. This seems to have trickled to London though as I spotted a gold bicycle back in November which has not moved in months (?). He doesn't deface anything, it is still fully functional, just gold. For anyone not familiar with the story, King Midas was a greedy man who wanted everything he touched to turn to gold. He eventually starved to death as even food turned to gold. Melo's rationale:

'Midas Project is a reflexion about our urban landspace and all wich involves, questioning its aspect and its real need. Are a collection of soft and “golden” interventions, that breaks the diary and normal point of view of the person. Redefine, communicate and settle the gaps to problems between public space and society are my main ambitions … '
