Kiss me close
Korean artist Sung Jin Kim paints photo realistic closeups of the mouth, highlighting it as a sensory organ and a means of eroticism, consumption and communication. Sung Jin’s use of deeply pigmented reds and labyrinthine textures on each photo realistic pout, calls to mind a sexual organ being engorged with blood after arousal. It’s almost impossible to look at these paintings and not feel like a voyeur or experience near salivation. It’s something about the intensity of red and the incredible texture and light technique incorporated into each piece that places this series of paintings among my utmost favourites.
