Eco Coke bottle

This is the 2nd semester project of product design student, Andrew Kim. Research-led redesign of the pop bottles for coca-cola. Obviously Coca-cola wouldn't go for a major redesign like this, as their brand identity is based on the original bottle form, but still, exciting to see someone has given this so much thought. Andrew considered everything from stack-ability, collapsablity, carbon footprint in shipping space saved,  bigger area for label, therefore more design space, 100% recyclable plant based plastic. The only thing I can think of is the fact that the existing design has one over on this one is ergonomics. One comments made by Paul Miller is 'Coke is pressurized; [this] bottle won't keep its shape.' Though I don't know enough about product design or materials to confirm this.

Over all, a great observation, thoroughly researched and the result is evidently innovative. You can see more of Andrew's work on his blog.
