Max Lamb

Max Lamb makes stuff. Stuff like chairs, glasses, book racks...you know, things we uses every day. But he makes them out of material and in a way we don't see every day.  Max made his Pewter stools on a beach, making a mould out of sand. See the video below if you don't believe me.

Max has also made a chair out of polystyrene called the Poly Chair during his MA at Royal College of Art in 2006. His China Granite project is simply beautiful, a variety of chairs, stools and tables cut from granite, mostly leaving the granite raw and unfinished with only the usable parts of the furniture being smoothed and polished. His Steel Sheet chair is, as the name suggests, a flat laser cut piece of steel which folds into a chair and is secured by double sided foam tape. Simple as that really.

After designing for Tom Dixon for a year, Max set up his own practice while also teaching the Industrial Design course at UCAL.  His work proves that experimentation is key in innovative work and experimenting with new materials and keeping the concept simple is the recipe for success. Max Lamb, if you're reading this, are you single? I find you[r work] very attractive.
